Upcoming Events Around the Nola Area That are Cool or Interesting
Lots of collectors events, music, and more! Happy Halloween!!
There’s a ton of cool and interesting events happening around New Orleans!
I have listed them below in chronological order, and will be updating/sending out the list when new ones come up. I will probably send this out at the beginning and middle of each month.
I won’t be at all of these, but you should be! Check them out by clicking Links below each picture.
Dead Media Market! The next one is on 10/4 in Baton Rouge.
This is a must-attend event for those who have a passion for physical media. Hundreds of VHS tapes, Vinyl records, video games, comic books, wax packs, toys, and more! Free admission! This event rotates locations, and is friendly to new vendors.
Check it the Facebook page for these events here
On October 4th, Crescent City Comics has thousands of $1 comics, and a good selection of discounted collected editions. Sometimes there’s even a box of toys out on a table or two. I try to go to each one of these they put on and then stop for coffee across the street. They usually have a handful a year! Check it out before the good stuff is gone!

Louisiana Card Con is back on 10/4 and 10/5 in Mandeville.
This event is catered towards sports card collectors, but a few friends of mine will be here with classic wax packs and some Pokémon and MTG

Also, shout out to whoever made this fantastic flyer! Wow! a nice mix of hand drawn artwork and some digital type! I think I used that same font for the heading back when I was making flyers for Proper Channels, many moons ago. Those were the days!

They open up the upstairs area to a few friends of the shop to unload some of their own collections! Very neat little event. BSI usually has some store-wide sales happening too.

South Mississippi Toy Fest has returned to their old location for another event on 10/18. This event has some really great vendors and wonderful people, if you can make the drive up to Ellisville, MS. The new flyer has more information on it, but uses ai “art”, so here is the old one. “DAYBREAK is a hyperfolk band based in New Orleans blending pop-punk, folk, and emo to produce a fresh DIY sound. New Planets is a New Edge band from New Orleans. Smallman, a Cali kid lost in the swamp, flips raw grit into hypnotic pop melodies and hot grooves that feel like sunshine with a twist of mud.
Come freak out and go completely insane!!! Then go home and go to bed. The price is ten dollars. The value cannot be calculated.”
The guy who made this flyer is a genius!!! Come to the show on 10/28, but before you do, be sure to check out the FB event page here
A second fandom event is happening at Chafunkta Brewery on 11/1! A small event with around 10 vendors and many more beers. The first one was a big hit, so they have brewed up another one! Check out the Chafunkta website here
I actually am not entirely sure what this is, but its happening at The Broad Side on 11/8 They are taking submissions, so if you got something, send it in to the email provided in the picture above. I tried to link to the website, but I kept getting an error.
The Saturday Morning Collectibles Toy Show is a first time event on 11/8 in Biloxi. I will be vending here along with plenty of other cool cats. Check it out in Biloxi! We are all excited to see what this is all about.

Alright folks, this is the big one. Twice a year, the St Tammany Collectors Con puts together the best convention in the state. They cater to the vendors and collectors, and each year it gets bigger and better. If you go to one collecting event a year, make it this one! Be sure to make it to Mandeville on 11/15-16
More info can be found here
The comic book store/gas station I mentioned earlier puts together a small-ish convention a few times a year in a hotel. This is a neat little show, and although I have never been a vendor, I always leave with something interesting for my collection. Check it out in Baton Rouge on 12/14
Hopefully, they will post more information here
Communist Smash Players of NOLA invite you to their weekly Smash Bros nights at Another Bar on Freret St. This is a FREE event, but you have to Bring you own Controller! They run Ultimate and even bring couple of CRTs to the bar to play Melee. Really cool group of folks here. Come swing by on Wednesdays and join the Discord server here
I just found out about this event, so I don’t have much information, but check out this really neat clothing swap at Saturn Bar! Every 3rd Tuesday of the Month. Check it out and get upcyled! I’m not sure where to grab more info about this, so if you have any, reach out to me and i’ll add it!
This isn’t an event, but I’d like to share my Halloween playlist with everyone. Hopefully this embed link works, but if not, you can access the spotify playlist by clicking here!
Happy Halloween!
