Upcoming Events Around the Nola Area That are Cool or Interesting
Lots of collectors events, music, and more!
There’s a ton of cool and interesting events happening around New Orleans!
I have listed them below in chronological order, and will be updating/sending out the list when new ones come up. I will probably send this out at the beginning and middle of each month.
I won’t be at all of these, but you should be! Check them out by clicking Links below each picture.
Alright folks, this is the big one. Twice a year, the St Tammany Collectors Con puts together the best convention in the state. They cater to the vendors and collectors, and each year it gets bigger and better. If you go to one collecting event a year, make it this one! Be sure to make it to Mandeville on 11/15-16
More info can be found here
11/15 at BSI Comics in Metairie, artist Vernon Smith will be signing his new Star Trek issue, Lower Decks #13 from 10 AM to 4 PM! Check out the BSI facebook page here!
After STCC, some check out the soft-opening at The Crypt! It’s no longer the Goat, and it has new owners! Cool looking Goth/Industrial/Synth night happening over there. No Cover! Check out The Crypt’s Facebook page here!
Crescent City Comics has thousands of $1 comics, and a good selection of discounted collected editions. Sometimes there’s even a box of toys out on a table or two. I try to go to each one of these they put on and then stop for coffee across the street. They usually have a handful a year! Check it out before the good stuff is gone!
The CCC website is here
December 5/6/7th is when the Punk Rock Weekend will take place! More info to come! This will be at multiple venues, so check around the usual sites if you need/want more info. I gotta see Tommy Wright III !
December 6th is the next New Orleans Book Fair. I have been pretty dissatisfied with these whenever I go, although I do I like the idea. Not really a book fair in the traditional sense of the term. I think I will go to 1 more of these and give it another shot. Not sure where to fine more information, so i guess you’ll have to swing by the Free Store to check it out.
December 6th is also the day that this place Left Bank Vintage is holding a holiday Market. I have never heard of them before, but it seems to be higher-end vintage decor and furniture. Might be cool to take a gander if you are in the area. The Website on this flyer is still a work in progress, so check out their instagram I suppose @leftbank.vintage
The comic book store/gas station I mentioned earlier puts together a small-ish convention a few times a year in a hotel. This is a neat little show, and although I have never been a vendor, I always leave with something interesting for my collection. Check it out in Baton Rouge on 12/14
Hopefully, they will post more information here
Communist Smash Players of NOLA invite you to their weekly Smash Bros nights at Another Bar on Freret St. This is a FREE event, but you have to Bring you own Controller! They run Ultimate and even bring couple of CRTs to the bar to play Melee. Really cool group of folks here. Come swing by on Wednesdays and join the Discord server here
Check out this really neat clothing swap at Saturn Bar! Every 3rd Tuesday of the Month. Check it out and get upcyled! I’m not sure where to grab more info about this, so if you have any, reach out to me and i’ll add it!
This isn’t an event, but since Thanksgiving is at the end of the month, check out my Spotify Playlist “Songs About Food” ! I have it organized with Breakfast in the beginning, and Desserts at the end. It’s almost 24hrs long, so you can start it at the beginning of your Thanksgiving cooking prep and leave it on all day long! Check out the link here!
